What do the above rates include?
Tourism Council of Bhutan designed the above tariffs in an effort to maintain a modicum of control concerning the quality of each visitor’s experience. The above rates were originally fixed and all inclusive; "The above tariff is irrespective of hotel accommodation or camping while on trek" and allowed for the visitor to stay anywhere in the Kingdom. At the time all of the hotels and accommodations in the Kingdom were of a similar quality and thus made the flat rate possible. Recently at least few 5 star resort has opened its doors in Bhutan. Staying in such accommodations will of course require an additional fee's per night to accommodate in the much higher rates.
*In comparison to US Hotel Standard 99% of all hotels in Bhutan fall in the 2.5 - 3 star category. They all vary slightly and we pride ourselves in having relationships with the best.
Surcharges
Surcharges are applicable for a group less than 3 pax (FITs). An extra charge of US$ 40 and 30 per night halt per person is levied for a group size of 1 and 2 respectively.
We recommend that all travelers obtain a short-term traveler’s insurance policy, which covers baggage and life.
