Bhutan has two main religions, Buddhism and Hinduism. Bhutan is the only country in the world to have maintained the Tantric form of Mahayana Buddhism as its official religion. In the south, the people follow their own religion ‘Hinduism’.

The freedom regarding different religious believes is accepted at a certain level. People can hold and practice their own religion in which they believe. However, the government does not permit public expression of other faiths & doctrines. There might be social pressure against the expression of external faiths.

What Our Clients Say

Khetnath,
I am now safely backed home but the memories of your beautiful country will live with me always. My stay in Bhutan was simply wonderful. The trek was little challenging for someone of my age but nevertheless the views were the most beautiful I have seen anywhere in the world and helped to melt the pain.
The trek was well organized; the food very good and wholesome and I must compliment your staff member, Khetnath Sharma, who is a most perfect choice of staff member. Please be assured be took care of our every need, was good humored and conscientious whilst also being hard working and tireless, always having a beautiful smile on his face. He has an excellent command of English, a great asset to those of us who speak no other languages. I was able to learn a great deal from his talks. He is certainly a great asset to your company.
I know I have found my Shangri La – I will certainly visit your beautiful country in the near future. Khetnath has promised to send me some suggested itineraries – and I look forward to that. Until we meet again, my sincere thanks for a perfect holiday.

Yours sincerely,
Anne Stephen

Khetnath

This is a letter of reference for Khet Nath Sharma, trekking guide working with Reekor Tours & Trek.
I recently had the opportunity to visit Bhutan for a period of twelve days with a group of five other Canadians. We spent ten days trekking with Khetnath as our chief guide. I can say, without hesitation, that the quality of Sharma’s work is excellent. He really knew the terrain and the routes, and was very adept at all tasks required of him, including planning, organization, staff management, etc.
I was impressed with Khetnath’s level of experience and training. He was well familiar with mountain safety techniques, health issues related to altitude, and so on. Our group felt safe and confident under the guidance of Shamra. I would not hesitate to recommend that anyone contact Khetnath Sharma with regard to arrangements for any kind of visit to Bhutan.

Yours very truly,

P.S. Dear Tshering: Thank you again for your guiding & hosting! We all had a wonderful introduction to Bhutan because of your help. Best of Luck. Keep in touch!

We have just returned from a visit to Bhutan, where it was our good fortune to be guided by Mr. Tshering Tobgay of Haa, Bhutan. This letter is an unsolicited recommendation on his behalf.
We met Tshering two weeks ago when he accompanied my wife, myself and several others throughout the 6 day period of our visit to Bhutan.
Tshering let us to several distant locations in Bhutan. There were situations where surprises in weather, road conditions and a less developed communication systems requires resourcefulness, initiative and flexibility. Tshering handled these situations with confidence & humor, leading our adventure to happy outcomes. He is responsible and caring and has leadership qualities. He is skill in archery (the national sport) and the Bhutanese guitar would ad a wonderful dimension to campers’ experience.
Our group ended up our first visit to Bhutan with a feeling of warmth and respect for Tshering.

Thank you.Yours truly,
Robert and Beverly Corwin

Dear Khetnath,

Hello again and sorry for the delay in answering you.
Our trip back to Spain was very good and everybody at home was ok. We arrived just for Easter holidays so it wasn’t so hard to come back to the "reality".
We had such a wonderful time in Bhutan!!! The country nature is beautiful, and we have enjoyed it very much. But the best, at least for me, has been its people. You have a permanent smile in your face that make you so fantastic, always kind with each other. And specially Mr. Jamtsho who has taken care of us, always thinking of any little detail to make our trip comfortable and, in a word, PERFECT. You cannot imagine how many times I think of you all and I see the pictures!!
Also our driver was fantastic and, although more silent, he did his work splendidly well.
And, of course, we have talked all our friends about you. It was a wonderful experience and we hope we could come back very soon.

Thanks again for everything and send our best regards to Jamtsho,

Ms. Maria Matilde Pellon

We'd heard so much about Bhutan from a few other friends who had visited, about its unspoiled natural beauty and its authenticity as one of the few places on earth not overrun by western influences, and decided that we must go. We found It astonishing to visit a place where its people take so much pride in their way of life, which seems more focused, perhaps, and certainly more spiritual. Much is said about Bhutan being one of the last untouched places, and it feels true. Surrounded by thousand year-old temples that are still in regular use, without a single interpretive sign or kiosk selling guidebooks, lets you feel what these sacred places really are—ancient spiritual centers, not tourist destinations.

In order to be granted a visa, visitors to Bhutan are required to hire local guides, and we were extremely fortunate to find Experience Bhutan Travel. Our time with them was flawless, they were gracious and professional, and understood that we wanted to learn about the country—we wanted an immersive cultural experience, and our guide, Uttam, explained in great detail the history of each of the places we visited, and offered up the remarkable past of the paintings, murals and other artwork adorning the magnificent temples. Without a tourist infrastructure in place (which is what makes Bhutan attractive in the first place), having a knowledgeable, friendly, and patient guide is invaluable, and we found it with Experience Bhutan. We couldn't have asked for a better trip.

Dear Khetnath,

Sorry it has taken so long to write. I thank you so much for everything. You really made the trip special. Thank you for dealing with my change of plans and for the personal touch.
My friend, I will certainly return myself to Bhutan one day and go for “Beautiful Laya-Gasa Trek” OR most awesome and treacherous trek “Snowman”.

Thank you once again for making my trip a wonderful one.

Dear Sir,
I returned home a few days ago and since then have been dealing with jet lag and getting readjusted to life in the United States. It may seem strange, but I had forgotten how fast-paced life is here; quite a change from the serenity of the Kingdom of Bhutan.
I am writing because I want you to know that I enjoyed my visit to the Kingdom of Bhutan very much and look forward to returning as soon as my schedule allows. I owe the success of my visit to you and your capable staff. As I reflect on my time there, it is clear that you worked very hard to make my stay as enjoyable and worthwhile as possible. I am especially grateful to Khetnath Sharma, my personal guide, because he made me feel comfortable and at ease at all times. It did not take long for me to relate to him as a travel companion, not a professional guide. Finally, I appreciate that I was treated as an individual; that your staff put together an itinerary that catered to my specific interests in architecture, art and Buddhism. Most of all, this personal “touch” made the trip memorable.

Thanks again for everything.

Respectfully,
Dr. Adrian Esparza
